Open a link from Links to see its page. The top shows the short link with Copy and Open, when it was made, and how many arrivals it has had.
Where it goes
Change the Destination and choose Save. Every printed copy of its code sends people somewhere new; the short code doesn't change.
Where people land
Add a rule to send a scan somewhere else when a condition matches, such as a country, a region, a device, a language or a time of day. Rules are checked in order and the first match wins. Every other scan goes to the destination above. A rule goes live at the edge as soon as it's added, and the printed code is untouched.
Who gets through
- Password protection: visitors enter a password first. It must be at least 8 characters, and we store only a hash.
- Age gate: visitors confirm their age. You set the minimum, from 13 to 120; there's no default.
- Email capture: ask for an email address before the link opens.
- Expiry: stop after a date, a number of arrivals, or both, whichever comes first. After that, visitors see your expiry page, never a browser error.
- Destination health monitor: checks the destination on a schedule and tells you when it stops answering. A destination that fails three checks in a row is recorded under Outages.
How the redirect behaves
- URL and tracking: see the exact address every scan is sent to, and set its UTM tags. Tags inherited from a campaign are highlighted, and you can override any of the five. You can also forward the scanner's own query string, open a supported app straight from the scan on Android, choose what the destination learns about where the visit came from, and set a backup destination and a page to show after expiry.
- Share card: write the title, description and image shown when someone shares the link in a chat or a post. Without one, the destination's own card is used.
- Conversions: add a click id (
qcid) to the destination so your own server can report a sale back against the scan that caused it. The reported total is a floor, not a full count. - Short codes: add a second short code with a label, such as a print run, a shop or a flyer, and its scans are counted separately. A short code is added once and never removed, because you can't know what has already been printed.
Its QR code
Choose Design QR code to make the link's own QR code. It goes into your library with its own short path, so its scans are counted apart from clicks. See Short links.
Filing and history
Under Filing, give the link a name, a note about why it exists, a folder and a campaign. History shows every change.
Duplicate or archive
- Duplicate: a new link with the same destination, rules, gates, UTM tags and folder, and a new short code. It opens paused, so nothing new resolves until you resume it.
- Archive this link: hides the link and keeps its short code reserved for ever, so nothing printed can later resolve to somebody else.
If a link is suspended
If a destination is flagged as unsafe, the link is suspended and scans reach a warning page instead. The code still resolves. Point it at a safe destination, or contact support if you think it's wrong.
