How to connect custom domain
Set up your own domain or short URL for dynamic QR codes. 2 minutes read
The majority of online dynamic QR code generators use their own link shortener. This means that when a user scans a QR code, they may initially view the domain of the QR code programme that he is using.
You can add your own domain and utilise the software as your own with QR code generator, which is known as white labelling.
There are numerous advantages to having your own domain:
- Branding - When people scan a QR code, they can see your brand, which aids in your branding and marketing campaign and makes it much easier for visitors to click on the URL.
- Modifiable - You can still redirect your domain's URL to any other URL you like. Simply go to your Qr code generator dashboard and make the necessary changes.
Follow these steps to create your own domain:
- To begin, go to the service centre or Cpanel of "your domain's hosting" (=where you purchased your domain name).
- Create a subdomain, such as "qr.yourdomain.com." (We set up SSL for the subdomain automatically, so you don't have to do anything. Your short URL will not work if you install your own SSL certificate.)
- This subdomain's DNS settings should be updated. Change the type to "CNAME" and enter "qrcodegenerator.in" in the CNAME value.
- Once that's done, log in to our website and navigate to your "Custom Domains" on QrCodeGenerato.in. You may access your "Custom Domains" by clicking on the link in the left side menu.
- Click on Connect custom domain button.
- In the Domain or Subdomain area, enter your sub-domain (for example, "qr.yourdomain.com").
- Optional: Enter custom index url. (Redirect to a specific url when visitors land on the index of the domain.)
- Optional: Enter custom 404 not found url. (Redirect to a specific url when visitors land on a not found page of the domain.)
- Click on Create Button. It will connect custom domain with our system.
Notes:
- Please keep in mind that it may take up to 24 hours for all global DNS servers to be updated and our system to recognise the changes.
- We append the https:// prefix to the domain you supplied automatically, so there is no need to type https:// in the box.
- To make this work, we add the SSL to the subdomain, so you do not need to configure SSL on your end. Your short URL will not work if you install your own SSL certificate.
- If you have any problems or questions about setting up your own short URL domain, please contact your IT or hosting firm.
